Three in a Row for Men's 1sts

On Saturday, our Men’s 1sts travelled to play Falkirk in their penultimate game of the season. Falkirk were still in the promotion hunt, hoping that a win against GCW and a loss for Uddingston would put them in the National 1 play-off.
Falkirk opened the scoring in just the 2nd minute, when a swift attack left the GCW defence exposed. However, with their first attack into the opposition’s 25, GCW were awarded a corner. The routine did not go according to plan, but Iain Selkirk did well to hit a shot on the turn into the bottom corner to make it 1-1 after 5 minutes. Just three minutes later, with their second meaningful attack, GCW broke through into the Falkirk circle, and Meldrum Mackenzie finished with a reverse stick sweep. The away team were ahead 2-1, but the goals kept coming, and this time Steven Beattie finished from close range for a 3-1 lead after just 11 minutes.
