Three in a Row for Men's 1sts

On Saturday, our Men’s 1sts travelled to play Falkirk in their penultimate game of the season.  Falkirk were still in the promotion hunt, hoping that a win against GCW and a loss for Uddingston would put them in the National 1 play-off.

Falkirk opened the scoring in just the 2nd minute, when a swift attack left the GCW defence exposed.  However, with their first attack into the opposition’s 25, GCW were awarded a corner.  The routine did not go according to plan, but Iain Selkirk did well to hit a shot on the turn into the bottom corner to make it 1-1 after 5 minutes.  Just three minutes later, with their second meaningful attack, GCW broke through into the Falkirk circle, and Meldrum Mackenzie finished with a reverse stick sweep.  The away team were ahead 2-1, but the goals kept coming, and this time Steven Beattie finished from close range for a 3-1 lead after just 11 minutes.

Let's Get it On

After a very warm summer I am glad to inform you all that club training will resume from Thursday 26th July at Rubislaw from 7.30-9pm. Youth training will commence Thursday August 22nd from 6-7.30pm. As you can see I need to get back to training.

Training tonight Thursday 18th July will be a coaches clinic for all. This means if you have something you wish to specifically improve or would like to try then bring the idea along and we will do our best to help you out. If no one has any ideas then we will just run a normal session based on the new season.

I hope you have all had a great summer and are looking forward to a new season of fun and frolics. I expect I will see you all within the next few weeks as you return from various "hotter"? climes. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind those who have not yet responded that I require your Aberdeen First Aid School numbers please, just email them to

The number selected is in addition to the 11 youngsters who recently played for the North U14s in Edinburgh. The squad is a fairly young group with District debuts for no fewer than ten of the twelve with only Alix Mowatt and Milly Merry making a second appearance at this age group.

The girls selected by coach Roddy MacFarlane are :

Kirsten Athawes, Sarah Black, Emma Cornwell, Lyndsey Davidson,

Sofia Gambro, Katrina Harris, Anna Kelly, Milly Merry, Alix Morrison,

Alix Mowatt, Chloe Reynard and Millie Skidmore

Also this week we have been advised that Milly Merry will represent Scotland U16s Development Squad in Ulster and the Scotland U15s in Holland also in June.

Well done to all the successful girls.
