Weekend Preview 21st/22nd October

It’s another relatively quiet hockey weekend coming up with no district league games scheduled. Our Ladies’ 1sts though are a busy squad.  On Saturday, they play Aberdeen University in a game with a local flavour.  The students are adjusting to life back in National League and will be highly motivated for this Aberdeen derby.  On Sunday, GCW have the toughest of first round Scottish Plate ties away to Clydesdale Western.  The Glasgow outfit are amongst the top teams in National 1 every year, but this season lost in the first round of the Scottish Cup on penalties.  Nicole Duffin is missing a long list of players, but those stepping up will be hungry for the opportunity to test themselves against high class opposition.

Weekend Preview 14th/15th October

With the tattie holidays in full swing, local fixtures are few and far between. We could really do with a spell of fair weather to make the tattie lifting just a bit easier though.

There is no respite for our Ladies’ 1sts who welcome Erskine Stewarts Melville to ASV tomorrow.  The Edinburgh outfit stepped down from National League 1 at the end of last season and are in pole position to jump straight back up.  A confidence building win last weekend has given GCW some reason for optimism, and Nicole Duffin’s squad will be aiming to cause an upset.

Weekend Preview 7th/8th October and the New Members Night

Cooler temperatures are fast approaching however that doesn’t mean hockey is stopping. If anything its hotting up with eight of our teams playing this weekend followed by our first social of the 2017/2018 season. In case you haven’t heard, on Saturday it’s our New Members Night at 7:30pm at the Sportsmans Club on Queens Road. Everyone including partners, friends and cheerleaders is invited, and the idea is that it’s a chance for our newer members to meet existing members, so get along and say hello!

GCW Girls Enjoy Inter Districts

There were no matches last weekend for the ladies section as the Scottish Inter District Tournament for U16s and U18s took place at Glasgow Green.

Granite City had strong representation in both squads once again reflecting on the hard work the youngsters put in.
