Rubislaw yesterday was the venue for the National Primary School Qualifier. Granite City Wanderers had two teams of youngsters entered ( 16 ), the only club entered among all the primary schools.
Ali Gentilucci and Sandy Keith looked after the teams and Alastair Hunter showed his umpiring skills. There were plenty of games for the youngsters some of who were playing their first ever games of hockey. I am pleased to say both our teams finished second in their group. It was also nice to see some of the school teams also with Granite City players featuring in their sides.
At the end of the day the goal was achieved as all left looking forward to the next event with smiles on their faces.
