Getting Out and About

It was only the second weekend in August but the GCW crew were out in force at various venues and events this weekend. Ellon had their mixed tournament which featured a GCW side. No reports of how they got on only that they had fun.Martha Sheal got plenty of practice umpiring to help when she sat her Level 1 badge grading on the Monday evening.Next up was the rotary beat the keeper ran by Stuart Hall at ASV ably support by Alex lynch, Stuart Hall and Graham Berry.

On Sunday afternoon Lisa Clyne and her crew were hosting a come and try event in the Duthie park helping many to see the game of hockey at its best with the Scottish Hockey Union inflatable. Thanks Dom,Roddy,Amy Simmers, Lottie Williamson,Josh Lawrence and Fraser Gray.

Finally Esther Walterson and Doug Soden were on a Sessional Club Coaching Course all day Sunday.

So i you were sitting quietly enjoying a Banana smoothy spare a thought for your very active and helpful club members.

Hockey is Back

Congratulations Ladies

Congratulations to Martha Sheal who passed her level 1 umpiring badge last night. Martha joins Jen Smith in receiving this award  before the new season starts.

Well done ladies. All other members should keep an eye out for an opportunity to attend a rules night to hear about the new rules for 2019/20 and to remind ourselves of the rules prior to this season.

Umpires Night Success

Last night over 20 intrepid souls spent the evening at the Sportsmans Club refreshing their knowledge of the rules of the game and sitting the theory test. Helen Henderson was the source of knowledge and experience which she happily passed down to members. Most found the evening very useful and two of the younger members, Alix Mowatt and Sofia Gambro will be venturing out umpiring on Saturday in the men's 3s & 4s game at ASV. Be gentle on the girls, guys.
