Badminton Club

Granite City Badminton Club was formed in October 2006 by a group of friends who had played Badminton at university together, and who wanted to create a new badminton club which catered for all standards and abilities, while also providing a fun and social atmosphere to play in!

Many of the initial members were also members of our sister club Granite City Wanderers Hockey Club, as one of our secondary aims was to begin to develop Granite City as a multi-sports club which would attract membership from across Aberdeen and the surrounding area. The Badminton club are developing a core of keen and enthusiastic players, and we have continued to attract members since our creation back in 2006.

To cater for those players who wish to play competitively, we currently run a Mens Doubles team who play in Division 2 of the Aberdeen and District League, and are considering entering a Mixed Doubles team into the league for season 2008-09.

The club is affiliated to both Aberdeen and District League and Badminton Scotland, and currently have two qualified coaches who regularly attend the club. A priority for the club for the coming year is to begin to develop a youth section to ensure that the club continue to develop players and sustain the club over the coming years.

However, it’s not all about the Badminton, and we also organise regular club social nights to ensure that a fun atmosphere is created both on and off the court!
